Spouted Bed
Spouted beds are used for a variety of processes,
especially for manufacturing of high-purity materials.
This example contains silicon (sand) in a 20
centimeter diameter semi-circular vessel with a
static height of 1 meter. Air enters from the bottom
feedpipe at 20 m/s. Complex motion and mixing of
the solids occurs, and CPFD reveals this by the
use of several 'species' which does not increase
the computational runtime.
